Awarakau Lodge is located on the South Coast (8km from the main township of Waitangi) of the rugged Chatham Islands. Set only metres from the sea, it commands picture-perfect views and tranquil surroundings.
Learn about the Chatham Islands at Awarakau Lodge and find out exactly what these amazing islands have to offer. From the moment you arrive, you will feel at home in this special slice of paradise. Greg and Rosemary own and operate the Lodge as part of their farming business. This is not an add-on, it is a core part of their operation.
Awarakau Lodge has been designed to provide luxurious lodge-style accommodation in a family-friendly setting. The quality and comfort of the setting and the surroundings often surprises first-time guests. Look across the immaculately kept lawns to the ever-changing moods of the Pacific ocean. Stroll across the grounds to the foreshore and see for yourself the myriad of life in the rock pools.
Awarakau Lodge caters for couples and families, or groups of up to 12 people. In the main building there are 4 rooms with ensuite facilities with a queen bed or twin beds. Located less than 20meters away from the main building, is a 2 bedroom Unit (see image 3 in gallery – the Unit is the building on the left side of the photo). As well as the 2 bedrooms (both rooms with ensuite facilities as of October 2021), it has a lounge and a kitchen – ideal for families or friends travelling together.
Guests also have access to a comfortable guest lounge with Sky TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Complimentary continental breakfasts and delicious home cooked meals in the evening are provided. On days when the guests are on Tour as part of the booked package, a packed lunch will be provided.
